Daryl Thought My First Title Was Dumb

Due to my mom and a certain aunt's prodding, I am finally taking the time to post. =) And my house is finally done being updated! (For now.) There's some other things that we're going to do, just not yet.
I also started a new job yesterday, which was interesting. I'm a landscaper at Candy Bar Ranch. Except for some stupid reason the ranch doesn't even have animals. They said it's more of an estate than actually a ranch. The guy has at LEAST 4 or 5 houses on this property, not to mention barns and storage sheds and stuff. They have a huge private carnival at this place every July 4th, so that's what we're getting it ready for. He spends 4 million on fireworks. Four MILLION. I didn't even know that was possible. Oh and this is just a getaway that they go to once in a while. Their real home is in Florida. Apparently he owned the NFL 49'ers at one point, and somewhere along his family tree they started the indoor shopping mall. He prolly also grows and sells marijuana on the side so that he can spend 4 million dollars on fireworks. Needless to say, I am QUITE tired. I have been "fluffing" mulch for the last two days. I didn't even know that was a thing. Anyway... on to pictures!

These are the kitchen, obviously. I didn't do anything to it except put up a few decorations. Once we have time, we're going to stain the cabinets a darker color.

This is going to be Daryl's office/spare bedroom, and we didn't do anything to this room either.
My not creepy laundry room! And pardon some of the weird angles/chopped-ness of these pictures... I can only back up so far into a wall.

And this is our bedroom... I had forgotten to take "before" pictures before we had all the furniture moved. Rest assured I don't live with all my furniture squished together. =)
These next few pictures are "during" pictures. Here Daryl is looking like a ballerina while putting up our curtain rod.

Daryl's sister Melanie was such a huge help! She helped me do a LOT of the painting.

Doesn't that just look FABULOUS with the cream doors and brown trim? I was so tempted to just leave it like that.

And it's done! I painted all the doors and trim cream, and even painted the door knobs. (You can see the gold ones in the previous picture.) The color looks a little different in real life than in the pictures... it's kind-of a sage color.

I love our bedroom! I'm sure I'll put a few more decorations up eventually, but for now, it's perfect. =D

I also painted the fans! (I'll have pictures of that later.) This one is still waiting to get new shades... as much as I love these weird frilly things.
And this is the spare room that you guys will all be staying in! Just like this. With all those clothes all over. haha Daryl's sister was staying with us at the time when I was taking my "before" pictures. She would be horrified to know this picture is on the internet. ;)

And after! The red was a lot brighter than what I wanted, but it still looks pretty good. Man I should've made sure all my "before" pictures were really messy cause it makes the "after" pictures look so much better.

I'm so sick of painting trim and doors so I decided to just leave it for now.

And here are the bathroom "afters"... I forgot to take "before" pictures. I painted it a light sage, and painted the trim, door, and the cupboards under the sink cream.

I'm posting this picture simply so you can see that ugly little fake wood stand... you'll see it again in the living room, but not ugly and brown. =)

The dining room

The living room

This is while we were still working on the living room.

Here's where I started working on the beautiful gold fans... that's supposed to look like oil-rubbed bronze, even though it looks almost black in some of the pictures.

With the new shades...

We painted the blades cream. They had been that fake looking wood stuff.

And I painted this thing cream too, but it needs new shades.

And the living room "afters!"

There's the stand! Or at least what you can see of it. I'm not quite done working on it though.

You might not all care to see the details of my decorations, but I figured my mom would. =)

I'm so happy with how the living room turned out! It's pretty much a slate blue. Once again, the color on the pictures is a little off.

There were several bushes of gorgeous white peonies that came up.
My birch tree is doing very well, thanks for asking. =)
Do you guys have ANY idea what kind this tree is? The leaves have pretty much all turned purple! At first I was afraid it was dying, but I don't know why it would do something that silly.
We drove through Glacier National Park with Junior and Sylvia, which came to Heron to preach at Daryl's family's church.

I don't think this one needs much of a caption.

So I think my mom told some of you this story already, but she thought I should put it on here. A few weeks ago I wanted to make tea with the bunches and bunches of tea I had growing allll over my flower beds. They still looked pretty small but I figured that's ok... so I picked a bunch of it and proceeded to de-leaf them. I noticed that it smelled kinda weird, kinda oregano-ish, but Daryl was pretty sure that it was spearmint tea and maybe just smelled "green" since it was so young. So I made tea. It was definitely not the good smelling tea I remember smelling when mom was making it. I made sure to add lots of sugar hoping it would somehow make it taste like good spearmint tea. But after several swallows I was almost convinced that it was oregano! However Daryl was not convinced. He drank several swallows of it and didn't think it was that bad until the after taste kicked in. Needless to say we're both very convinced it's oregano, and that oregano tea isn't a very satisfying beverage.
